The 2009 Senior Competition was won by Graham Gemmel who walked away with a fantastic prize of £75.00 and a seat box kindly donated by The Fishing Republic who once again supported the event providing over £1500.00 worth of prizes for both the competition and the raffle. Second and third respectively in the Seniors were Steve Williams and Wayne Rooke. The Junior Competition was won by James Edis from Sam Rodway who again picked up fantastic fishing rods as prizes.
On Saturday 15th August the exclusive 7 Lakes Country Park once again hosted the Susie Cup Angling Competition. The competition is held in memory of 7 Lakes Country Park holiday home owner and keen angler Susie Legg whose life was so tragically cut short in a horrific road accident in August 2005 on the M62 motorway whilst Susie and husband Gordon were travelling to 7 Lakes Country Park which was the couple's haven. Susie had just bought her husband the holiday home at the park to mark their 30th wedding anniversary.
This was the fourth competition to be held and provided excellent angling sport and prizes for the entrants on the special waters found within the 120 acre facility. The stunning Pumphouse Lake provided a real challenge as it holds many species. The main aim of the event though is to raise as much money as possible for charities Susie’s husband Gordon supports in her memory. A section of the entry fee and a grand raffle, together with sponsorship monies all help the cause. The Lincolnshire Air Ambulance Charity and The Candlelighters each gained from the day.
